TURNER IS COMBINING THE OAKLAND AND SAN FRANCISCO PROGRAMS INTO ONE IN 2014

NEWS FLASH:  TURNER IS COMBINING THE OAKLAND AND SAN FRANCISCO PROGRAMS INTO ONE IN 2014 and not offering this program in San Francisco in 2014.  Classes will be held in downtown Oakland, easily accessible to BART and ample free street parking after 6 PM.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND   Local, minority-owned, women-owned, disabled veteran owned, disadvantaged and small emerging businesses that are general contractors, specialty contractors, construction managers, construction consultants, and other companies that work closely with construction firms. There is NO COST to program participants however, participation in the 2014 Oakland/ San Francisco Turner School of Construction Management training program is a commitment to attend a minimum of 11 classes in order to receive a Certificate of Completion.

CLASS SCHEDULE   Classes will be held twice a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:00 PM to 8:30 PM beginning March 18th ending May 8th. Classes consist of two-hour courses in: Accounting Basics for Contractors, Estimating, Bidding & Procurement, Field Operations, Insurance & Bonding, LEAN practices, Management, Marketing & Sales, Project Delivery Systems & Contract Risk Management, Safety, and Scheduling.

SELECTION PROCESS  

  • There are only 50 spots available. Space is limited, so only one participant per company will be accepted.
  • To be considered, your firm must have actively performed work in the construction industry for at least one year.
  • This program is only for local, minority-owned, women-owned, disabled veterans and small emerging businesses.
  • If your company is selected, you will be notified no later than Thursday, March 13.

Subcontractor “Meet and Greet” brought to you by Turner

You are invited to attend a subcontractor "Meet and Greet" outreach meeting on Thursday, June 6th at 1PM at 75 Hawthorne St. Representatives from Turner will be present to answer questions regarding the bid packages, timing, schedules and certification
 

Bidders are encouraged to seek certification for SBE/VOSB/SDVOSB/HubZone SBE/SDB and WBE for this project.

All job walks will begin at the “Meet and Greet” area inside Terminal 1 right next to the TSA security checkpoint. Proceed inside the terminal towards the security line as if you were boarding a flight. The meeting area is directly to the right of the security checkpoint inside Terminal 1.

Oakland Airport M102 Renovation Project - Job Walk Reminder and Sub-Tier Outreach Event


This week Turner Construction will host a Sub-Tier Outreach Event between the primes and second and third their subcontractors immediately following the job walk in an effort to build relationships and to help prime subcontractors reach their LBE/SLBE goals.

Each job walk is scheduled to start at 1pm. The job walk meeting point will be at the “Meet and Greet” area inside Terminal 1 right next to the TSA security checkpoint. Proceed inside the terminal towards the security line as if you were boarding a flight. The “Meet and Greet” area is directly to the right of the security checkpoint inside Terminal 1.

For TSA security purposes, please provide Turner with the full legal name, Date of Birth and Company Name of each job-walk attendee 24 hours prior to your scheduled job walk time. Attendee’s must bring a valid/current form of Identification with them during the job walk as well. This information should be sent to Brendan Crockett, bcrockett@tcco.com.

The Sub-tier Outreach event will be held immediately after the job walk in Turner’s Site Office at 2:30 PM. Our office is located in the Oakland Airport Maintenance Building, 1100 Airport Drive, Second Floor located in the green area on the map below and has the logo on the side of the building.

If you are interested in bidding on the M102 Renovation Project, we strongly recommend subcontractors attend both the job walk and the Sub-tier Outreach event in an effort to help with bidding requirements and scope for this project. Please check the dates of each pre-bid job walk carefully as to what trades will be highlighted. A reminder that this is the first phase of bidding and two subsequent bid packages are forthcoming.

(Please note the Demolition Job walk has been moved to Wednesday Feb. 27th)

- Site Demo/Paving/Concrete, Glazing, Micropiles and Structural Concrete –
   Tues. Feb 26th @ 1pm.

- Structural Steel and Misc. Iron, Demolition - Wed. Feb. 27th @ 1pm.

- All MEPF, Low Voltage, and Elevator Trades– Thurs. Feb. 28th @ 1pm.
