Warriors Move: It's No Slam Dunk
If there is to be a contest to be the home of the Golden State Warriors, the game is at tip-off – not late in the fourth quarter. All the good reasons for the team to stay in Oakland will remain and become more apparent. These include a location much closer to the geographic center of the fan base, an existing arena that will not face community objections, better access to highways, public transportation and parking and more.
As this game plays out, this feint to San Francisco may look
like nothing more than a negotiating ploy to get better terms from the City and
County. The Oakland Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce remains confident
that the Warriors and the City of Oakland can and will find a path to keep the
team in Oakland.

Coliseum City Plans Get Started!
New or Improved Stadiums for the A’s, Raiders and Warriors? It could be part of the vision for Coliseum City - the 750 acre site in and around the current O.co Stadium and Oracle Arena. The City approved contracts last night with four companies to create plans for the area that are meant to include world-class sports and entertainment facilities, destination retail, restaurants and hotels as well as office and residential uses.
The Coliseum City area is only minutes from the airport, is
a local and regional transportation hub served by BART, AC transit and highways
with stunning waterfront views. The concept is to create a vibrant,
economically sustainable development that would enhance the local area,
residents and businesses, while serving the A’s, Raiders and Warriors, all
while acting as a catalyst for the Oakland community.
