The
StopWaste Partnership Business Mini-grants provide up to $5,000 to kick-start
new recycling and waste prevention projects at work. Ready to get desk-side
recycling bins for all staff? Or perhaps internal promotion would help push a
waste prevention project up the flagpole. Apply for funding by March 30, 2012!
Popular Uses of Mini-grants Include:
- Purchasing
recycling and food scraps bins for the workplace
- Paying
for training, education or incentives to increase employee participation
in recycling and waste prevention programs
- Piloting
reusable containers on a delivery route
- Funding
paperless office software
Who is eligible?
This
StopWaste Partnership Business Mini-grant Program is open to all StopWaste
Partnership clients and other Alameda County businesses -- private firms,
public agencies, and institutions that have at least two (2) cubic yards of
weekly garbage collection service.
How
does it work?
The
proposed project must be in the area of waste prevention, reuse, recycling or
market development
and have an impact in
Alameda County, California. Typical projects are for start-up/one-time expenses
to start or expand a workplace waste reduction program.
- The
minimum Mini-grant award is $500, and the maximum is $5,000.
- For
organizations that generate less than 10 cubic yards of garbage per week,
the maximum Mini-grant award is $3,000, unless otherwise approved.
- Applicants
are encouraged to contribute at least some amount of matching funds to the
project.
